Information regarding the labeling of Old and New Stock1-4


There is a transition period until 31 December 2010 when the schedule included on the pack may not match the product’s actual scheduling status. Irrespective of labelling, all combination analgesics containing codeine must be stored and supplied according to your current State or Territory regulations.

 Old Stock

Before 1 May 2010 From 1 May 2010
The schedule on the label will match the product’s scheduling status. Products which have the old labelling Pharmacy Medicines and Pharmacist Only Medicines may be stored in the pharmacy and supplied in line with the old regulations until 30 April 2010. The schedule on the label may not match the product’s scheduling status. Old stock must be treated as Pharmacist Only Medicines or Prescription Only Medicines as applicable and stored out of reach of the consumer, regardless of labelling.

Stock with old labelling may not be sold after 31 December 2010

 New Stock

Before 1 May 2010 From 1 May 2010
The schedule on the label may not match the product’s scheduling status. Products which have the new labelling Pharmacist Only Medicines and Prescription Only Medicines may be stored in the pharmacy and supplied in line with the old regulations until 30 April 2010. The schedule on the label will match the product’s scheduling status. New stock must be treated as Pharmacist Only Medicines and Prescription Only Medicines and stored out of reach of the consumer, as required by their labelling.
